A small group of photo enthusiasts founded the Stamford Camera Club in 1945. It has grown to be a leading club in the area attracting members from southern Fairfield County in CT, and Westchester County in NY. The warm, friendly atmosphere provides a meeting place for interested photographers, both amateur and professional alike. There are monthly competitions in Color Slides, Black and White Prints and Color Prints, divided into classes so that Members compete with others of similar experience. Each picture is carefully judged and critiqued. Ribbons are awarded. Trophies and awards go to cumulative score winners for the year and also to the winners of the Annual Competitions. Stamford Camera Club established a color print class in 1958 with Members making their own prints. In 1979 a new class was added" Commercial Color Prints with prints processed by a comercial lab from the photographer's own negatives and slides. In 1990 Commercial Black & White Prints were added. And in 1999, the Board voted to rename the Club to it's current name--The Photography Club of Lower Fairfield County. As the membership includes both advanced amateurs and pros, help is always available. Click on the following for more information. |
